Target Information
FLIP (CFLAR) is an apoptosis regulator protein that serves as a key link between cell survival and cell death pathways in mammalian cells.
It acts as an inhibitor of TNFRSF6-mediated apoptosis. A proteolytic fragment (p43) may remain in the death-inducing signaling complex (DISC), blocking further recruitment and processing of caspase-8.
Full-length and shorter isoforms have been shown to either induce apoptosis or reduce TNFRSF-triggered apoptosis.
FLIP lacks enzymatic (caspase) activity.
