In Western blot applications, this antibody detects a band at approximately 115–130 kDa. A suggested positive control is K562 cell lysate.
Target Information
The APAF1 gene encodes a cytoplasmic protein that initiates apoptosis. This protein includes multiple WD-40 domains, a caspase recruitment domain (CARD), and an ATPase domain (NB-ARC). Upon binding cytochrome c and dATP, it forms an oligomeric apoptosome that activates caspase 9, triggering the apoptotic cascade. Alternative splicing results in several transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
