Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. Purity is >95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
The TNNI2 gene encodes a fast-twitch skeletal muscle protein, a member of the troponin I gene family, and a component of the troponin complex (troponin T, troponin C, and troponin I subunits).
The troponin complex, together with tropomyosin, regulates calcium-dependent striated muscle contraction. Mouse studies indicate that TNNI2 is also expressed in vascular smooth muscle and may influence smooth muscle function.
Beyond muscle tissues, TNNI2 is found in corneal epithelium and cartilage, where it acts as an angiogenesis inhibitor to suppress tumor growth and metastasis. In the mammary gland, it functions as a co-activator of estrogen receptor-related receptor alpha.
This protein also suppresses tumor growth in human ovarian carcinoma. Mutations in TNNI2 cause myopathy and distal arthrogryposis type 2B. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified for this gene.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
