Target Information

T-cell protein tyrosine phosphatase (TC-PTP, also known as PTPT and PTPN2) is an enzyme that removes phosphate groups from tyrosine residues in proteins.
It has two splice variants with distinct subcellular localizations:

• 45 kDa isoform: Nuclear in resting cells; redistributes to cytosol upon stimulation.
• 48 kDa isoform: Found in the endoplasmic reticulum with different physiological substrates.

TC-PTP is expressed in many tissues, particularly in hematopoietic cells. Knockout mice lacking TC-PTP exhibit erythropoietic and lymphopoietic deficits, indicating its critical role in bone marrow maturation.
It dephosphorylates various phosphoproteins, including p52 Shc, and receptors for EGF, insulin, and growth hormone.
