Product Specific Information
Reconstitute in 100 µL of sterile water. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material.
After reconstitution, store aliquots at -20°C for higher stability, and at 4°C with an appropriate antibacterial agent.
Glycerol (1:1) may be added for additional stability. Avoid repetitive freeze/thaw cycles.
Target Information
SOD1 (superoxide dismutase) binds copper and zinc ions and is one of two isozymes responsible for destroying free superoxide radicals in the body.
This isozyme is a soluble cytoplasmic protein acting as a homodimer to convert harmful superoxide radicals into molecular oxygen and hydrogen peroxide.
The other isozyme is a mitochondrial protein. Mutations in this gene have been implicated as causes of familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
Rare transcript variants have been reported for this gene.
