Product Specific Information
- Reconstitute in 150 µL of sterile water.
- Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material.
- The antigen is homologous in human and rat.
- Specificity: Desmin.
Target Information
Desmin (approximately 53 kDa) exhibits high tissue specificity, predominantly expressed in muscle cells (cardiac, skeletal, and smooth muscle). Its expression is stage and tissue-specific, induced during terminal skeletal muscle differentiation.
In skeletal and cardiac muscle cells, desmin localizes in the Z-disk and intercalated disk regions. Expression in smooth muscle is more heterogeneous.
Coexpression of vimentin and desmin occurs in muscle-derived tumors such as rhabdomyosarcomas and leiomyosarcomas.
During myocardial dysfunction, desmin distribution changes dramatically.
