Description:
The TRFK5 antibody reacts with mouse and human interleukin-5 (IL-5) and functions as a neutralizing antibody. Mouse IL-5 is a disulfide-linked homodimer composed of two 113 amino acid peptides, appearing as 32–34 kDa bands in SDS-PAGE. IL-5 is produced by T cells and is known as eosinophil-differentiating factor (EDF), B cell growth factor II (BCGFII), and T cell-replacing factor (TRF). IL-5 induces eosinophil differentiation and promotes survival and activation. In mice, IL-5 stimulates B cell proliferation and antibody production.

Applications Tested:

• Sandwich ELISA (mouse IL-5): capture with TRFK5, detection with biotin TRFK4 (13-7051), standard recombinant mouse IL-5 (14-8051). Recommended concentration: 1–4 µg/mL.
• Sandwich ELISA (human IL-5): capture with TRFK5, detection with biotin JES1-5A10 (13-7059), standard recombinant human IL-5 (14-80591). Recommended concentration: 1–4 µg/mL.
• Include standard curve (1000 pg/mL–8 pg/mL) per ELISA plate.
• Functional Grade purified TRFK5 tested for neutralization of IL-5 bioactivity.

Target Information

IL-5 is a cytokine that promotes growth and differentiation of B cells and eosinophils. It regulates eosinopoiesis, eosinophil maturation, and activation. Elevated IL-5 levels are associated with asthma and hypereosinophilic syndromes. The IL-5 receptor is a heterodimer sharing its beta subunit with IL-3 and CSF2/GM-CSF receptors. IL-5 forms a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 5 with IL-4, IL-13, and CSF2, coordinated by long-range regulatory elements on 5q31.
