Product Specific Information
The CRM56 antibody reacts with human and baboon interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), a 17 kDa factor secreted primarily by monocytes. IL-1β influences T-helper cells (inducing IL-2 secretion and receptor expression) and B cells (promoting proliferation and immunoglobulin synthesis).
Applications Reported:
CRM56 has been reported for intracellular staining (flow cytometry), cytokine neutralization, and ELISA. Fluorochrome-conjugated CRM56 is recommended for flow cytometry; Functional Grade purified CRM56 is recommended for functional assays.
Applications Tested:
CRM56 has been tested as a capture antibody in sandwich ELISA for human IL-1β, using biotin CRM57 as detection antibody and recombinant human IL-1β as standard. Recommended ELISA capture concentration: 1–4 µg/mL. Standard curve range: 1000 pg/mL–8 pg/mL.
Functional Grade Purified CRM56 has been validated for IL-1β bioactivity neutralization.

Target Information
Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) is a proinflammatory cytokine expressed by monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. Synthesized as a 31 kDa inactive pro-form, it is cleaved by caspase-1 into the active 17 kDa form following inflammasome activation. IL-1β is secreted via a non-classical pathway and signals through IL-1RI and IL-1RII receptors. Its activity is regulated by IL-1 Receptor Antagonist (IL-1RA). IL-1β plays a key role in innate immune responses and inflammation, and elevated levels are linked to chronic inflammatory diseases.
