Product Specific Information

The 2B8 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD117 (c-Kit receptor), also known as Steel factor receptor or stem cell factor receptor. This 145-kDa tyrosine kinase receptor is expressed on hematopoietic progenitor cells, mast cells, and plays a role in their proliferation and differentiation.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Tested on mouse bone marrow cells at ≤0.25 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Optimize antibody titration per assay.

Target Information

KIT (c-KIT) is a proto-oncogene and type 3 transmembrane receptor for mast cell growth factor (stem cell factor). It regulates growth and activation of hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells. Mutations in KIT are linked to gastrointestinal stromal tumors, mast cell disease, acute myelogenous leukemia, and piebaldism. c-Kit is expressed in hematopoietic stem cells, germ cells, mast cells, and gastrointestinal tract cajal cells. Ligand binding induces receptor dimerization and activation, triggering downstream signaling pathways such as Ras/ERK, PI3K, PLC-γ, and JAK/STAT.
