Target Information
ACCN1 encodes a member of the degenerin/epithelial sodium channel (DEG/ENaC) superfamily. Members of this family are amiloride-sensitive sodium channels with intracellular N and C termini, two hydrophobic transmembrane regions, and a large extracellular loop containing multiple conserved cysteine residues. The encoded protein may play a role in neurotransmission and can form proton-gated channels with ACCN3 (variant 1) that are sensitive to gadolinium.
