Target Information
CD26 (dipeptidyl peptidase IV, DPP IV; adenosine deaminase binding protein) is a homodimeric atypical serine protease belonging to the prolyl oligopeptidase family.
It is expressed on lymphocytes and upregulated during T-cell activation, also found on activated B cells, NK cells, and epithelial tissues.
CD26 plays roles in T-cell activation, cell adhesion to extracellular matrix proteins such as fibronectin and collagen, and HIV infection.
Altered CD26 peptidase activity is linked to malignant transformation, with increased enzymatic activity correlating to tumor grade and severity.
Expression changes have been observed in monocytes and CD4+ T cells during rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus.
