Target Information
EPPK1 is a cytoskeletal linker protein that connects to intermediate filaments and controls their reorganization in response to stress. It is associated with cellular motility machinery during wound healing, regulating keratinocyte migration and proliferation. EPPK1 contributes to tissue architecture by accelerating keratin bundling and controlling corneal epithelium morphogenesis and integrity. It also plays a protective role in liver and pancreas injuries by chaperoning intermediate filament reorganization.
