Product Specific Information
PA1-4968 detects Rhp51 protein in E. coli samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blot, immunofluorescence, immunocytochemistry, and immunoprecipitation procedures.
It is specific for the ~40 kDa Rhp51 protein.
GFP-tagging of Rhp51 protein at either N- or C-terminus inactivates its function and cannot be used for foci formation studies.
The immunogen is a highly purified recombinant Rhp51 protein expressed in E. coli.
Target Information
Rhp51 protein of Schizosaccharomyces pombe (fission yeast) is a functional and structural homolog of E. coli RecA protein and the Rad51 proteins of eukaryotes.
These proteins play a major role in genetic recombination and recombination repair by mediating strand exchange reactions between homologous DNA strands.
