Product Specific Information
PA1-4966 detects LexA protein in E. coli and yeast samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blot, immunoprecipitation, and immunohistochemical procedures.
Specific for the ~23 kDa LexA protein.
Immunogen: highly purified recombinant full-size LexA protein.
Store at -20°C.
Target Information
The E. coli LexA protein inhibits transcription of genes in the SOS regulon related to DNA repair and cell division by binding to the SOS-box sequence.
Its self-protease activity is promoted by RecA protein, which is activated upon DNA damage by binding to single-stranded DNA.
LexA is cleaved into two fragments, losing its repressor function, leading to induction of SOS regulon genes and enhanced mutagenic activity.
