PA1-4985 detects Rad51 from human, mouse, and chicken samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blot, immunoprecipitation, immunocytochemistry, and indirect immunofluorescence applications.
By Western blot, this antibody detects a 37 kDa band representing Rad51 from HeLa cells.
GFP-tagging of Rad51 protein at either N- or C-terminus inactivates the function of Rad51 and therefore cannot be used for the study of foci formation instead of the antibody.
The PA1-4985 immunogen is full-length recombinant Rad51 protein.

Target Information

RAD51 plays a critical role in homologous strand exchange, a key step in DNA repair through homologous recombination.
It binds to single and double-stranded DNA and exhibits DNA-dependent ATPase activity.
RAD51 catalyzes the recognition of homology and strand exchange between homologous DNA partners to form a joint molecule between a processed DNA break and the repair template.
It binds to single-stranded DNA in an ATP-dependent manner to form nucleoprotein filaments essential for homology search and strand exchange.
Mutations in the RAD51 gene can result in breast cancer, mirror movements 2, and Fanconi anemia.
