Target Information
KIF4A encodes a member of the kinesin 4 subfamily of kinesin-related proteins, also known as chromokinesins.
This ATP-dependent microtubule-based motor protein is involved in intracellular transport of membranous organelles and associates with condensed chromosome arms, contributing to chromosome integrity during mitosis.
It may also participate in central spindle organization prior to cytokinesis.
A pseudogene of KIF4A is located on chromosome X.
