Target Information
The GAB2 gene belongs to the GRB2-associated binding protein (GAB) family. These proteins contain a pleckstrin homology (PH) domain and interact with SHP2 tyrosine phosphatase and GRB2 adapter protein. They function as adapters to transmit signals in response to cytokine and growth factor receptor stimulation, as well as T- and B-cell antigen receptor activation. The encoded protein is a principal activator of phosphatidylinositol-3 kinase in response to activation of the high-affinity IgE receptor. Two alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms have been identified.
