Target Information
Aquaporin 1 (AQP1) is a 28 kDa integral membrane protein originally identified in red blood cells and renal proximal tubules.
It is also expressed in the choroid plexus and various other tissues.
AQP1 forms a water-specific channel, providing the plasma membranes of red cells and kidney proximal tubules with high water permeability, allowing water movement along osmotic gradients.
