This Mgc3 monoclonal antibody detects hypoxia-inducible factor 1 alpha (HIF-1α) from human, non-human primate, bovine, mouse, and porcine cells.
It does not cross-react with ARNT or HIF-2α.

• Detects a ~93 kDa HIF-1α protein after hypoxic induction in COS cells

Target Information

HIF1-alpha (HIF1A) is a subunit of HIF1, a transcription factor regulating cellular response to hypoxia.
HIF1 is composed of α and β subunits, both members of the PAS family. Under hypoxic conditions, HIF1 activates transcription of genes that enhance oxygen delivery or metabolic adaptation, such as erythropoietin, glucose transporters, VEGF, and glycolytic enzymes.

HIF1-alpha regulates:

• Hypoxia-mediated apoptosis
• Cell proliferation
• Tumor angiogenesis

It interacts with p53 and p300/CBP complexes, influencing hypoxia-responsive gene expression.
Located on chromosome 14q in humans, HIF1-alpha contributes to diseases including ischemia, cancer, pulmonary hypertension, and COPD.
