Target Information
The protein encoded by the PTPN7 gene belongs to the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family, which regulates diverse cellular processes such as growth, differentiation, mitosis, and oncogenic transformation.
This gene is preferentially expressed in hematopoietic cells and acts as an early response gene in lymphokine-stimulated cells.
The noncatalytic N-terminus interacts with MAP kinases and suppresses their activity, playing a role in T cell antigen receptor signaling by dephosphorylating MAP kinase-related molecules.
Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
