Product Specific Information

For immunohistochemistry (PFA-fixed tissues):

  • Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  • For formalin-fixed tissues, heat sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, then cool at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

Ubiquitin is a highly conserved protein that plays a major role in targeting cellular proteins for degradation by the 26S proteasome. It is synthesized as a precursor protein consisting of either polyubiquitin chains or a single ubiquitin fused to an unrelated protein.
The gene encodes a fusion protein with ubiquitin at the N-terminus and ribosomal protein S27a at the C-terminus. Post-translational processing generates free ubiquitin monomer and ribosomal protein S27a, a component of the 40S ribosomal subunit. Ribosomal protein S27a contains C4-type zinc finger domains and is localized in the cytoplasm. Pseudogenes derived from this gene are present in the genome. Similarly, ribosomal proteins L40 and S30 are synthesized as fusion proteins with ubiquitin or ubiquitin-like proteins.
