Target Information
The PTGES2 gene encodes prostaglandin E synthase 2 (PTGES2), an enzyme essential for the biosynthesis of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) from arachidonic acid. It functions downstream of the cyclooxygenase (COX) pathway, interacting with COX-1 and COX-2. PTGES2 plays key roles in inflammation, fever, and pain responses. As a membrane-associated protein, PTGES2 uniquely regulates PGE2 production and influences immune and vascular signaling processes.
