MRE11 (double-strand break repair protein MRE11)는 MRN 복합체의 구성 요소로, DNA 이중가닥 절단 복구, 재조합, 텔로미어 유지, 감수분열 과정에서 중심적인 역할을 합니다.
이 복합체는 MRE11에 의해 제공되는 단일가닥 엔도뉴클레아제 및 이중가닥 특이적 3'-5' 엑소뉴클레아제 활성을 가지며, RAD50은 DNA 말단을 결합하고 인접하게 유지하는 데 필요합니다.
MRE11 유전자 변이는 ataxia-telangiectasia-like disorder 1을 유발할 수 있습니다.
