Description:
The HIR2 monoclonal antibody reacts with human glycophorin A, a sialoglycoprotein expressed by erythroid precursors and mature circulating red cells.
Applications Reported:
HIR2 can be used in flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested:
The HIR2 (GA-R2) antibody has been tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells and cell agglutination assay. Recommended usage is approximately 0.1 µg per test (100 µL final volume). Optimal titration is advised depending on cell number (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).
Purity: Greater than 90%, determined by SDS-PAGE.
Aggregation: Less than 10%, determined by HPLC.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.
Target Information
CD235a (Glycophorin A, GPA) is a single-pass membrane sialoglycoprotein expressed in mature erythrocytes and erythroid precursor cells. It carries blood group M and N specificities and may act as a barrier to cell fusion, reducing red blood cell aggregation. CD235a also serves as a receptor for Sandei virus, parvovirus, and Streptococcus adhesin Hsa.
