Product Specific Information

The 16-10A1 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD80 (B7-1), a 55 kDa member of the Ig superfamily. CD80 is expressed by macrophages, dendritic cells, activated B cells, and activated T cells. It binds with high affinity to CD28 and CD152 (CTLA-4), which are crucial for T-B cell communication and activation.

Target Information

CD80 (B7-1) and CD86 (B7-2) are ligands of T cell costimulatory molecule CD28 and inhibitory receptor CTLA-4 (CD152). Both are expressed on professional antigen-presenting cells and are essential for T cell activation.
CD80 is rapidly induced on activated B cells and is found in EBV-transformed B cell lines, Burkitt’s lymphoma cells, follicular B lymphoma, T cells, and monocytes.
CD80 dysfunction has been associated with diseases such as gallbladder squamous cell carcinoma and myocarditis.
