HADH 유전자는 3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase 유전자 패밀리에 속하며, 미토콘드리아 매트릭스에서 β-산화 경로의 일부로서 straight-chain 3-hydroxyacyl-CoA의 산화를 촉매합니다.
이 효소는 중간 사슬 길이의 지방산에서 가장 높은 활성을 보이며, 유전자 변이는 가족성 고인슐린혈성 저혈당증의 한 형태를 유발할 수 있습니다.
인간 게놈에는 염색체 15번에 관련된 pseudogene이 존재합니다.
