Target Information
The Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome (WAS) family of proteins share similar domain structures and are involved in transduction of signals from cell surface receptors to the actin cytoskeleton.
These proteins interact with multiple partners, including the small GTPase Cdc42 and the Arp2/3 complex, which regulate actin filament formation.
WASL (N-WASP) is a homolog of WAS protein, ubiquitously expressed with highest levels in neural tissues. It binds Cdc42 directly and induces formation of long actin microspikes.
