Product Specific Information

This TULY56 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD56 (NCAM), a highly glycosylated transmembrane molecule expressed by neurons and involved in homotypic neural cell adhesion.
In hematopoietic cells, CD56 is present on NK cells and NKT cells.
TULY56 does not block CMSSB binding, indicating recognition of different epitopes. It performs better after fixation and permeabilization compared to CMSSB.
Cross-reacts with Rhesus macaque.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Pre-diluted and tested on normal human peripheral blood cells at 5 µL (0.25 µg)/test.
A test corresponds to staining a cell sample in a 100 µL final volume (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).

Fluorochrome Information:
Super Bright 436 is excited by the violet laser (405 nm) and emits at 436 nm. Recommended filter: 450/50 bandpass.
Use Super Bright Complete Staining Buffer (Product # SB-4401) when combining multiple Super Bright dyes to minimize non-specific interactions.

Target Information

CD56 (NCAM) is a transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin family, mediating adhesive interactions and expressed throughout the nervous system.
It exists in isoforms of 120–180 kDa and is found on T cells and NK cells, involved in migration, axonal growth, and synaptic plasticity.
Polysialic modifications reduce adhesion, while extracellular regions bind laminin and integrins.
CD56 is expressed in neuroectodermal cell lines and tumors such as retinoblastoma, medulloblastoma, astrocytoma, and neuroblastoma.
It serves as a sensitive neuroendocrine marker for neuroendocrine and ovarian granulosa cell tumors.
Diseases associated with CD56 dysfunction include rabies and blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasms.
