Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter superfamily, which mediates the transport of various molecules across cellular membranes. It is part of the MRP subfamily involved in multidrug resistance. This protein functions as a multispecific organic anion transporter, handling substrates such as oxidized glutathione, cysteinyl leukotrienes, and activated aflatoxin B1. It also transports glucuronides and sulfate conjugates of steroid hormones and bile salts. Alternative splicing by exon deletion produces several variants that retain the original open reading frame.
