Target Information
Cytochrome c oxidase 17 (COX17) is a nuclear gene encoding an assembly protein essential for proper COX apoenzyme-dependent mitochondrial respiration. The mammalian COX apoenzyme consists of three mitochondrial-encoded catalytic subunits and several nuclear-encoded structural subunits. COX17 facilitates copper transport into mitochondria for incorporation into the COX complex.
