Target Information

A-kinase anchor proteins (AKAPs) are a group of structurally diverse proteins that bind to the regulatory subunit of protein kinase A (PKA), anchoring the holoenzyme to specific cellular locations.
The AKAP13 gene encodes a member of this family and undergoes alternative splicing, producing multiple isoforms containing C-terminal dbl oncogene homology (DH) and pleckstrin homology (PH) domains.

• DH domain: Involved in guanine nucleotide exchange activation for Rho/Rac GTPases, converting them to their active forms.
• PH domain: Functions in multiple signaling processes.

These isoforms act as scaffolding proteins coordinating Rho signaling pathways, anchoring PKA, and enhancing ligand-dependent activity of estrogen receptors α and β.
