Product Specific Information

The G8.8 monoclonal antibody reacts with the 40 kDa mouse EpCAM (epithelial cellular adhesion molecule), also known as EGP40, 17-1A antigen, TACSTD1, and CD326. The immunogen was the TE-71 thymic epithelial cell line.
CD326 is expressed on most epithelial cells and is considered a pan-carcinoma antigen involved in calcium-independent homophilic cell adhesion and potential growth factor receptor activity. It plays a role in tumor biology and is a target for immunotherapy.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Tested by flow cytometric analysis of TE-71 cells at ≤0.125 µg/test.
A test is defined as the amount of antibody that stains a cell sample in 100 µL volume. Optimal titration is recommended.

Fluorochrome Information:
APC-eFluor 780 emits at 780 nm and is excited with the 633 nm Red laser. Ensure instrument compatibility.
Light-sensitive tandem dye—protect from light.

Fixation:
Samples can be stored in IC Fixation Buffer (Product #00-8222) or 1-step Fix/Lyse Solution (Product #00-5333) for up to 3 days at 4°C in the dark with minimal signal loss. Clone-specific performance should be verified empirically.

Target Information

Ep-CAM (epithelial adhesion molecule, ESA) is a ~40 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein expressed in epithelial tissues. It mediates Ca²⁺-independent homotypic adhesion and influences cell cycle, proliferation, and metabolism via c-myc and cyclin A/E induction.
Ep-CAM overexpression correlates with enhanced epithelial proliferation and is a marker for tumors of epithelial lineage.
It is expressed on the basolateral surface of most simple epithelia and carcinomas, and helps distinguish adenocarcinomas from pleural mesotheliomas.
