Target Information

The protein encoded by His6-DEP-1 is a member of the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family. PTPs are signaling molecules that regulate cellular processes such as cell growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation.
This receptor-type PTP contains:

• An extracellular region with five fibronectin type III repeats
• A single transmembrane region
• A single intracytoplasmic catalytic domain

It is expressed in all hematopoietic lineages and negatively regulates T cell receptor signaling, possibly by interfering with phosphorylation of Phospholipase C Gamma 1 and Linker for Activation of T Cells.
It can also dephosphorylate the PDGF beta receptor and may be involved in UV-induced signal transduction.
Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for His6-DEP-1.
