Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration. For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.

This antibody is specific for cat IL-8 protein. A BLAST analysis was used to suggest cross-reactivity with IL-8 from cat sources based on 100% homology with the immunizing sequence. Cross-reactivity with IL-8 from other sources has not been determined.

Target Information

Interleukin 8 (IL-8, CXCL8) is a 72 amino acid pro-inflammatory factor belonging to the CXC subfamily of chemokines, bound by cell surface receptors IL-8RA and IL-8RB. IL-8 functions as a chemoattractant and potent angiogenic factor.
Its expression and secretion can be induced by diverse inflammatory stimuli in many cells, including macrophages and endothelial cells. In endothelial cells, IL-8 is stored in Weibel-Palade bodies.

IL-8, first isolated from osteosarcoma cells, contains the ELR-motif (N-terminal Glu-Leu-Arg sequence) and signals through CXCR1 and CXCR2 receptors. Previous nomenclature includes NAP-1, GCP-1, MONAP, and protein 3-10C.
IL-8 and other CXC chemokines form a gene cluster mapped to chromosome 4q. It plays a role in angiogenesis, tumor growth, and the pathogenesis of bronchiolitis caused by viral infection.
