Target Information
GADD153 (also known as CHOP) is a small nuclear protein that can dimerize with transcription factors C/EBP alpha and beta. The resulting complex inhibits normal C/EBP binding and function, while gaining binding activity to non-classical C/EBP stress-related targets. Under normal conditions, GADD153 is not detectable, but is strongly upregulated during cellular or ER stress, such as treatment with tunicamycin, nutrient deprivation, or reducing agents affecting calcium flux across the ER membrane.
