Target Information
The 6x His tag is a synthetic oligopeptide consisting of six consecutive histidine residues (HHHHHH). It is commonly fused to recombinant proteins at either the N- or C-terminus to facilitate purification by immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC).
Epitope tagging enables detection of recombinant proteins even when specific antibodies are unavailable. His-tagged proteins bind selectively to Ni²⁺-NTA resin, allowing purification to homogeneity.
His tag-specific antibodies are used to detect or co-immunoprecipitate His-tagged proteins.
