Target Information
The 6x His tag is a synthetic oligopeptide consisting of six consecutive histidine residues (HHHHHH). It is commonly expressed at the N- or C-terminal regions of recombinant proteins to enable isolation or purification by immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC).
Epitope tagging allows detection of recombinant proteins by fusing a known epitope to them, facilitating purification or detection when no specific antibody exists. His-tagged proteins bind strongly and selectively to metal ions such as Ni²⁺, enabling purification to homogeneity using Ni²⁺-NTA adsorbents.
His tag-specific antibodies are valuable tools for detection, purification, and co-immunoprecipitation of His-tagged proteins.
