Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.

This antibody is specific for mouse Stat1 protein. BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with Stat1 from mouse and rat based on 100% homology with the immunizing sequence. Partial reactivity is expected against human Stat1 (90% homology). Cross-reactivity with Stat1 from other sources has not been determined.

Target Information

STAT1 (Signal Transducers and Activators of Transcription 1) is a member of the STAT family of transcription factors. It can be activated by interferon-alpha, interferon-gamma, EGF, PDGF, and IL6. STAT1 regulates genes involved in cell growth, apoptosis, immune responses, and lipid metabolism.
STAT1 plays a key role in mediating cell viability in response to various stimuli and pathogen exposure. The STAT1 gene is located on chromosome 2 and is activated through phosphorylation by JAK tyrosine kinases, subsequently translocating to the nucleus to regulate gene transcription.
Among the seven STAT types, STAT1, STAT3, STAT5a, and STAT5b have wide activation profiles. STAT1 responds to ligands such as IFN family (IFN-Alpha, IFN-Beta, IFN-Gamma, IL-10), gp130 family (IL-6, IL-11, LIF, CNTF, G-CSF), and receptor tyrosine kinases (EGF, PDGF, CSF-1).
Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms of STAT1 have been described.
