Product Specific Information

This antibody is specific for mouse Stat5 protein.
A BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with Stat5 from human, mouse, and rat based on 100% homology with the immunizing sequence.
Cross-reactivity with Stat5 from other species has not been determined.
Target Information
The STAT5 protein is a member of the STAT family of transcription factors. In response to cytokines and growth factors, STAT proteins are phosphorylated by receptor-associated kinases, forming homo- or heterodimers that translocate to the nucleus to act as transcription activators. STAT5 mediates responses to ligands such as IL-2, IL-3, IL-7, GM-CSF, erythropoietin, thrombopoietin, and various growth hormones. Activation of STAT5 in myeloma and lymphoma associated with TEL/JAK2 fusion is independent of cell stimulus and is essential for tumorigenesis. The mouse counterpart induces BCL2L1/BCL-X(L) expression, suggesting an anti-apoptotic role.
