Target Information
TRRAP is an adapter protein found in various multiprotein chromatin complexes with histone acetyltransferase activity (HAT), contributing to epigenetic transcription activation. It is a component of the NuA4 histone acetyltransferase complex responsible for acetylation of nucleosomal histones H4 and H2A.
TRRAP plays a central role in MYC transcription activation and participates in cell transformation by MYC. It is required for transcription activation mediated by p53/TP53, E2F1, E2F4, and adenovirus E1A.
TRRAP likely links transcription factors such as E1A, MYC, or E2F1 to HAT complexes like STAGA, facilitating transcription activation. It may also be involved in the mitotic checkpoint and normal cell cycle progression, and is a component of a SWR1-like complex that mediates removal of histone H2A.Z/H2AFZ from nucleosomes.
