Product Specific Information

This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope at the C-terminus of the alpha-2 helix and a turn on one of the underlying beta strands within the human HLA-A2 histocompatibility antigen.


Target Information

HLA-A belongs to the HLA class I heavy chain paralogues. This molecule is a heterodimer consisting of a heavy chain and a light chain (beta-2 microglobulin). The heavy chain is membrane-anchored and plays a central role in antigen presentation to the immune system.

Class I molecules present peptides derived from the endoplasmic reticulum lumen and are expressed in nearly all cells. The heavy chain (~45 kDa) gene contains 8 exons:

  1. Exon 1: leader peptide
  2. Exons 2–3: alpha1 and alpha2 domains (peptide-binding regions)
  3. Exon 4: alpha3 domain
  4. Exon 5: transmembrane region
  5. Exons 6–7: cytoplasmic tail

Polymorphisms in exons 2 and 3 determine peptide-binding specificity, important for bone marrow and kidney transplantation typing.
HLA and MHC antibodies are key tools in Immunopeptidomics, aiding in the identification and characterization of neoantigens via HPLC-MS/MS.
