Target Information
MLH1 is a DNA mismatch repair protein essential for maintaining genetic integrity. Alterations in microsatellite repeats due to strand misalignment during DNA replication lead to microsatellite instability (MSI), which is associated with carcinogenesis. Mismatch repair genes, including MLH1, are key in hereditary nonpolyposis colon cancer (HNPC). MSH2 is involved in recognizing mismatch nucleotides, and MLH1 forms a heterodimer with PMSH to facilitate later steps in mismatch repair.
