Description:
The MI-6 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse NKG2D, a lectin-like molecule expressed on both human and mouse NK cells. Mouse NKG2D binds to retinoic acid-inducible RAE-1 alpha, beta, gamma, delta, epsilon and the minor histocompatibility molecule H60. It can costimulate multiple NK activation receptors through DAP12/DAP10 adaptor molecules. NKG2D is expressed by spleen and liver NK cells, NK1.1(+) thymocytes, activated LAK cells, and a subset of splenic NKT cells.

Applications Reported:
This MI-6 (MI6) antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis. Engagement of NKG2D with the MI-6 monoclonal antibody blocks NKG2D-mediated cytolysis in vitro and in vivo.

Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of mouse splenocytes. Recommended ≤ 0.5 µg per test (100 µL final volume). Cell number may range from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test. Antibody should be titrated for optimal performance.

Use in a sterile environment.

Target Information

Natural killer (NK) cells mediate lysis of tumor and virus-infected cells without prior activation. NK cells regulate humoral and cell-mediated immunity and express calcium-dependent (C-type) lectins involved in NK cell function. The NKG2 gene encodes a transmembrane protein with type II membrane orientation and a C-type lectin domain. The NKG2 gene family resides within the NK complex, containing several C-type lectin genes preferentially expressed in NK cells.
