Target Information
USP7 (HAUSP) is a ubiquitin-specific protease that removes ubiquitin from its substrates.
Its activity stabilizes target proteins by preventing their degradation via the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway.
USP7 is known as a direct antagonist of Mdm2, the E3 ubiquitin ligase for p53, thereby stabilizing p53 in response to stress or oncogenic signals.
It may serve a tumor suppressor function by protecting p53 from degradation and plays roles in oncogenic pathways involving Myc and E1A.
