Product Specific Information
Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.

Target Information
CD11a (LFA-1 alpha, ITGAL) forms part of leukocyte function-associated antigen 1 (LFA-1) with CD18. It plays a central role in leukocyte adhesion via interactions with ICAM-1, -2, and -3, and participates in lymphocyte costimulatory signaling.
CD11a is expressed on leukocyte plasma membranes and changes conformation upon cell stimulation to support tight ligand binding. It is involved in immune cell interactions, tissue localization, and regulation of T-cell effector functions.
Blocking CD11a function has therapeutic potential for inflammatory diseases. For example, the humanized anti-CD11a antibody Efalizumab (Raptiva) modulates T-cell migration, and simvastatin binding to CD11a’s allosteric site exerts immunomodulatory effects. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. CD11a dysfunction is associated with benign cephalic histiocytosis and leukocyte adhesion deficiency.
