The PA1-4105 immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues C(132) Q D P R V R G L Y F P A G G(145) of preS2 HBV.
Target Information
The hepatitis B virus (HBV) is an important cause of acute and chronic liver disease and the most common form of parenterally transmitted viral hepatitis.
HBV surface protein antigens (HBsAg) consist of three co-terminal proteins: large (LHBs), middle (MHBs), and small (SHBs, major). LHBs and MHBs share a hydrophobic, repetitive, membrane-spanning S domain, while MHBs includes a 55 amino acid region called preS2.
HBV affects approximately 350 million people worldwide. Immunization against hepatitis B is a key component of preventative medicine, offered to children in many countries.
HBV belongs to the Hepadnaviridae family, and persistent infection can lead to hepatocellular carcinoma. There are around 400 million HBV carriers globally, making HBV one of the most common human pathogens.
