Target Information

CHEK2 (CHK2) is a serine/threonine kinase involved in the DNA damage checkpoint pathway. Mutations in CHK2 are associated with various cancers. CHK2 activation by DNA damage leads to phosphorylation of several cell cycle regulators, including tumor suppressor proteins. It can phosphorylate BRCA1, aiding in DNA damage recovery. CHK2 mutations are linked to Li-Fraumeni syndrome and predisposition to sarcomas, breast cancer, and brain tumors.
