PA1-4952 detects the HIV-1 p24 protein in HIV samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blot, Dot blot (DB), Immunoprecipitation (IP), and ELISA procedures.
By Western blot, this antibody detects approximately 24 kDa, 55 kDa, and 41 kDa proteins, corresponding respectively to HIV-p24 and its precursors p55 and p41 in HIV samples.
The immunogen corresponds to the recombinant protein over-expressed in E. coli with a plasmid carrying the Gag p24 coding region of the HIV-1 virus.
Recombinant HIV-1 Gag p24 protein (Cat. # RP-4916 or RP-4917) can be purchased for control experiments in Western blot assays.
Target Information
HIV-1 Gag p24 is a capsid protein forming the core of the AIDS virus HIV-1.
It is produced by proteolytic digestion of its precursor Gag p55 by HIV-1 protease.
This protein is essential for viral particle assembly and replication.
HIV-1 Gag p24 is detectable from the early stage of infection and serves as a marker for monitoring disease progression and viral load after treatment.
