Vaccinia virus는 약 191 kb의 게놈을 가지는 대형 DNA 바이러스로, variola virus와 밀접한 관련이 있습니다.
바이러스의 형태형성은 세포질에서 이루어지며, intracellular mature virus(IMV)와 intracellular enveloped virus(IEV)를 형성합니다.
IMV core에는 A3L, A4L, A10L의 주요 단백질이 포함되어 있으며, A12L, A13L, A14L, A14.5L, A17L, A27L, D8L, G4L, G7L, H3L, I5L, L1R 등 12개의 단백질이 바이러스 입자 주위의 막과 연관되어 있습니다.
