The eBioHP40 antibody reacts with the p40 subunit of human IL-12 p70 and IL-23.
IL-12 is a 70 kDa heterodimeric cytokine composed of p40 and p35 chains, secreted primarily by activated monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells.
IL-23 is a related heterodimeric cytokine composed of disulfide-linked p40 and p19 subunits.

The eBioHP40 antibody exhibits slightly lower background staining than C8.6 and recognizes a different epitope.

• Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and tested by intracellular staining and flow cytometric analysis of stimulated normal human peripheral blood cells.

Target Information

IL-12 is produced by dendritic cells, neutrophils, macrophages, and lymphoblastoid cells in response to antigenic stimulation. It is a heterodimeric cytokine encoded by IL-12A (p35) and IL-12B (p40).
IL-23 shares the IL-12B subunit and includes IL-23A (p19). Functionally, IL-12 enhances vascular adhesion molecule-1 expression and promotes leukocyte migration and tumor necrosis.
In contrast, IL-23 stimulates memory T-cells and is essential for Th17 cell function, influencing neutrophil chemokine and pro-inflammatory cytokine production.
